Eternal Bread Ministry (EBM) purpose is to show the grace and love of Jesus Christ by being His hands and feet to the least of these. EBM serves the less fortunate and those left out by society by ministering to their needs, providing nourishing meals weekly, witnessing to their souls and distributing various charitable donations. Food and other needed items such as blankets, clothing, shoes, hygiene products and school supplies must be supplemented occasionally with purchased products.
At the very start of this ministry, a small group noticed an area in and around Memphis, TN where people were struggling to find food and other living necessities. A few area churches were asked to assist in those needs by donating and personally delivering food and other items to the less fortunate. It is from that plea of help the beginnings of the current non-profit organization of EBM was founded.
Presently, supplies are gathered together from a small storage unit and volunteers gather at one location weekly to serve a full meal of at least one protein, one vegetable, one starch or whole grain bread and fresh fruit which is the recommendation of the American Heart Association. Bottled water is also offered and “blessing bags” which consist of snack and/or hygiene items to last for a couple of days. The goal while serving is to connect with the people to learn their names and their specific struggles and burdens so they know that are valuable to the Kingdom of Christ and to their community.
The ministry is extremely consistent in the effort to spread the vision of sharing love and showing grace. EBM plans to expand into other areas of the community while still staying connected to each location. One objective is to provide family style holiday meals at East, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The ministry’s future intent is to purchase vehicles for transportation of food and serving supplies as well as acquiring a warehouse to store donated items and to package those items for distribution. A website will be developed for information purposes, for volunteers to sign up to assist in planned activities, prayer requests, taking monetary donations and to advise of donation drop-off locations.
